Doggie Daycare

Working at home has it’s advantages but it also has it’s disadvantages. My two older dogs, Spunky and Toni, know what to do when the workday starts.

When I open the door to the office I say to the dogs “It’s time to go to work!”. Both dogs enter the office quickly. Toni climbs her ramp to the cushioned stool that holds her blanket. She curls up, I cover her and she goes to sleep. Spunky heads towards the large red pillow on the floor, lays down and goes to sleep. They know what work they do… keeping mommy company while being nice and quiet. These older dogs can sleep most of the day.

What happens when you get a new puppy (like we did) or when you have a high energy older dog? The answer is, go crazy! Another option is to put the dog in doggy daycare. This is an expensive option unless you use the service for half days. You can do every day, half day, twice a week half day or three times a week half day. If you buy days in bulk most daycare providers will give you a discount. Our Sandee goes twice a week half days and comes home exhausted. Then she goes into her crate and sleeps the rest of the business day.

You can find doggy daycare locations by using Google local for your area. Be sure and check references but do consider this option if you want to keep your sanity!
