Take A Day Off Some Time, I Dare You To Do It
I took today off from work to celebrate my birthday. I have never done this before even though I am, gasp, 49 years old today! The idea began when I heard that Disneyland was offering a free ticket for your birthday in exchange for signing up for an e-mail list. I did the required steps and received my certificate online and went today to pick up my ticket. I spent the morning at California Adventure and had a blast. Then I spent the afternoon getting a pedicure, haircut and shopping. It was wonderful. Why am I telling you this? I’m telling you because I know that you’re guilty of working seven days a week in your work at home buiness. I know, because I do it too. We work to hard, spend too much time in front of the computer, don’t get enough exercise or sleep and then we complain that we’re exhausted. Of course, we’re exhausted! I had an epiphany today. I am much less effective when I work too much. When I do take time off purely to have fun I come back refreshed and ready to tackle anything.
Today while I was enjoying my time off I came up with several business ideas that made me feel excited! I realized that I want to schedule a day off at least once a month where I spend all my time on myself. I know we have weekends but when was the last time you spent a weekend doing what you love? Don’t you spend it going from errand to errand, task to task? Taking one day out of the month and just spending it on your own relaxation and self care will make a huge difference in your enthusiasm and stress level. Try it, it worked for me!
